Group support keeps pain at Bay

S. Dhanalakshmi of Thamarai SHG, has been more fortunate. An illiterate, she was diogonised as suffering from cancer in 1990 at the Chennai Adyar Hospital, where she had been admitted and treated for three months. She was given at the most two years more to live. later, after joining the SHG, she took a loan for growing Delhi Crossandra flowers in 1994 . She started supervising the work from 4 a.m. in the morning and enjoying the flowers growing in the fields.
She would get the work done through others. But she is very happy that in spite of the warnings and the pain, she is still alive. Work keeps her busy and on her toes and helps to overcome her pain and other worries.
Beyond marrow, beyond pain;
The intericacies of existence
Extending the will to survive;
Confidence gained, tending to flower
Longer years to live, a-gain!
No longer the wilting cancer patient- that excruciating
This activity of growing flowers - rejuvenating;
Reinfusing blood streams, spasms disappearing,
Restored self confidence, now sky high, soaring,
Presenting a new lease of living!
