Beyond the Group's Boundaries

The group animator, selvi, of Gandhinagar Magalir Manram (SHG), Panamarathuppatti, Salem takes pains to see that the noon-meal centre for the benefit of 42children is kept neat and tidy. Her group has collected Rs.12 each from members to get one portion of the wall painted with easy to understand colour pictures for the benefit of children.

             Her group members visit a little home run for spastic children, the "Golden Grace Illam". They distribute toys and sweets to these children and spend some time with them. The women members have come to realise that wealth alone cannot beget everything in life. They are happy that although economically poor, they have a good family in the form of an understanding life partner and loving children, who are normal and more fortunate. This ,truly, was their wealth.
