Mahalir Thittam is a State funded programme and since its inception in 1996-97, the progress in expenditure and the breakup of budgetary allotment for 2000-2001 is as follows:

The poor women (BPL) in village, NGOs, Banks, DRDA, NABARD and DeW are the major stakeholders in this project.
